  • Orders should be placed at least four weeks ahead of your desired pick up date, even sooner for fancy breeds, guinea fowl and waterfowl.
  • "Straight run" birds are unsexed, for better odds of getting a good mix of males and females the more ordered the better! Bantams, some standard chickens, guinea fowl and some waterfowl are sold as straight run only.
  • Certain breeds are available in a limited supply for the season please order early.
  • Poultry orders have to be picked up from our location - your pick up days will be included on your email confirmation.
  • We will notify you by email at least two days before your birds are ready for pickup. A pick up schedule of day and times will be included for you to choose from. Please note that most of the time pick up days do not involve a wait much more than 15 to 20 minutes, however, we cannot guarantee that your wait time will not be longer than the norm for any number of reasons, not the least of which, we are dealing with live animals and proper care and preparation is very important - we appreciate your patience.
  • Minimums per breed or variety: 5 chicks, 5 keets, 3 ducklings.
  • In order to keep your order on your confirmed hatch date and to help avoid ordering errors, we request that you avoid changes to your order once placed - we reserve the right to limit changes to any order.
  • Payment Policy - Please see the last page of the current years price list for information on the deposit (or full payment) required as pertaining to your order. Your order confirmation will also include information regarding payment of your order. Payment must be received within one week of receiving your order confirmation and invoice via e-mail. Orders will not be processed until payment is received. Delay of payment can change bird availability. After two weeks, unpaid orders will be removed from the system. Please advise method of payment via email - we accept e-transfer, cheque or money order for payment. Please note: Once your order is within eight weeks of hatch date, 20% of your payment will be non-refundable if you decide to cancel your order. Also note that all orders are subject to a $5.00 administrative fee if cancelled. No refund for orders not picked up on the scheduled pick up dates. Additional terms and conditions may also apply due to cancellation of your order.

Additional ordering information:

  • Some of our birds are hatched weekly and may be available as such, however, large orders and most of our special breeds need to be ordered well in advance of your desired pickup date.
  • In confirming your order, we are acknowledging that we have received your order and will do our best to fulfill your order. Due to circumstances beyond our control, such as availability of eggs, hatching results, supplier availability or any other conditions that that can affect the hatchery business, we cannot guarantee your order will be received on the expected hatch dates, or that you will even receive your order. In the event of not being able to provide your order, we will provide a full refund to you but will not be responsible for any other costs that may arise to you for not receiving the order.
  • Due to the possibility of one or more breeds being unavailable on your order, this does not warrant cancellation of your order unless all or over 50% of your order is unavailable.
  • Some of our birds are show quality and do very well at poultry shows, however, we do not guarantee show quality birds. Also note that there are some variations in features such as colour pattern, size etc. with a certain number of chicks from every hatch. We do guarantee purebred birds.
  • We guarantee sexing to 80% accuracy.
  • We can ship day old poultry by air if you live outside of Ontario, we do not ship within Ontario except for Thunder Bay airport.
  • Performance Poultry is not responsible for any losses to poultry that might occur during transportation. Also, all poultry orders are carefully processed and verified for shipment according to numbers, breeds and varieties. We do not take responsibility for discrepancy in numbers after arrival to their destination.
  • Our day-old poultry are produced from health monitored breeding birds. We do our best to provide strong healthy birds. We assume no liability for the ongoing health of your poultry or people who may come into contact with them after the birds have left our premises.

    Important information:

  • Always remember to practice good hygiene around poultry. It is important to wash your hands well with soap and water and to make sure children wash their hands after handling poultry. Avoid excessive handling and such things as kissing and snuggling. Children under 5, the elderly and people with weak immune systems are best not to handle poultry. Poultry can carry Salmonella that can potentially cause a diarrhea illness which can produce mild, severe or even life threatening conditions.
